Everyone wants to feel fulfilled and that they’re making an impact. We usually judge this based on measurable outcomes and inputs: professional performance, achievements in hobbies or athletics, the number of hours we devote to activities. Yet we make positive ‘social’ impact on the people around us every day; how often do we get feedback on that?
The appreciation project is about humans who have made my life better simply by being who they are. I spend a lot of time thinking about the people I know but it occurred to me that most of them probably don’t know how much I appreciate them! My aim is to let people know the enriching impact they’ve made on me and to spread that mindset as broadly as possible.
- All stories all equal!
- This isn’t a social media account and it doesn’t attempt to paint a full picture of each subject but rather highlight a few special qualities
- The project is ongoing and there is no significance to the order stories are posted in
- While I include photos that capture the spirit of the message, this idea is heavy on meaningfulness – hold the vanity!
If you know me, I definitely appreciate you. And whether you know me or not I hope this idea will inspire you to proactively share your appreciation with the people in your life 🙂
